SAdness: Josh’s word on the postponed South Africa tour

Posted in Josh Update by Pristine on March 14th, 2008

As some of you may have heard, Josh’s South Africa tour has been postponed. It was due to start on 16 March in Durban, but the tour promoter, Duncan Heafield of Kusasa, failed to fulfil his obligations. But wait! Josh will be back in South Africa! Here’s the word from the man himself. (Note: I’ve taken the liberty of paragraphing the message. Hint hint, Josh.)

Josh writes:

Hey Guys and Gals I wanted to post here personally and just say how upset and frustrated I am that things have gone down the way they have in South Africa. As I said in my press statement, its a place in the world that I hold dear to my heart and nothing could have excited me more than the idea of visiting again.

I was looking forward to bringing my favorite show ever to the fans but also looking forward to seeing first hand the incredible charity work that, through your help, we have done in that part of the world. Also as you all know, we’re really looking and hoping for a rescheduled trip very soon because this trip, like every other, was about one thing…YOU.

I’m not allowed to get into any legal details but what happened over there left myself, my management and more than anyone you, a victim of situations that honestly did not show their ugly heads until just the other day. I was rehearsing with my band 2 days ago when I found out we would not be going. I did all I could to let you know when I knew and I sincerely hope that if you made plans you are able to change them in time for the next trip.

Speaking of which, I’m going to use this anger at what has happened in a positive way to make sure that what was going to happen this trip will be just the same in a few months and happen the RIGHT way. You deserve nothing less and to have gone ahead the way that our now ex-promoter would have done things would have left myself and you at risk. My team and I will never let that happen. Thank you for understanding and I CAN’T WAIT to get there and give you all a killer show. WE WILL BE BACK.

This is from my mom: “It is with profound sadness that we have had to postpone our visit to South Africa and our planned visit to Siyawela. It had been a dream of mine for many years to visit this beautiful part of the world and my desire to visit Siyawela was beyond measure. Andrea and I have been planning this visit for a long time. I felt I was an extension of you all, that I could bring your love and caring with me. But I am happy to say that Andrea is there, full of love and caring, and will fulfill our purpose and that everything we would have done and will do there will be in Andrea’s capable hands. Our bags were packed and we were 24 hours from departure when we were told of the situation there. Our shock and disappointment mirrors your own and we hope to reschedule as soon as possible. Josh’s last album and our foundation work reflects our commitment to the people of South Africa and with your support and understanding we can fulfill that purpose.” -Lindy Groban

More info to come…thanks for your patience Josh
